Imagine. Investigate. Innovate.
The I Series courses are designed to investigate significant issues and inspire innovative ideas. Unique to the Maryland undergraduate experience, they fulfill university general education requirements in a creative and contemporary way.
The classes challenge students to apply diverse intellectual traditions to today’s big issues, such as: Is the rise of artificial intelligence a good thing? How do ideas spread through social networks like Facebook or Twitter? Is it always wrong to kill another human being?
Launched as a pilot program in Spring 2010, the I Series begins the transformation of the university’s General Education Program for freshmen and transfer students, though all students should find the courses attractively complex.
